London’s Design Week Awards: Marriott Takes Home Best Mobile App
July 05, 2018
The mobile app Work & Co created for Marriott Hotels won top honors at the 2018 Design Week Awards, held in London.
Responsible for driving more than $2 billion in direct bookings, the app uses a unique “one button” navigation that reduces clutter and simplifies the user experience into core pillars of a traveler’s journey: booking, in-stay, and loyalty/rewards. The design paradigm is being extended to the company’s loyalty and in-room entertainment programs.
Judges —which included execs from Guardian News, IKEA and Riposte Magazine— called the work “simple, effective, and clean.”
Said Todd Strickler, VP, Product & Digital Guest Experience at Marriott International: “When creating a product experience for 10 million global users across 127 countries & territories, you discover that having the best design is just the first hurdle. Being able to then execute it at scale is even harder. That’s what differentiates our partnership with Work & Co. We worked fast —and iteratively— to craft and launch a product for a demanding audience, including global user testing with many different audiences and new customers ahead of launch. The result has been more engagement, more brand value and ultimately, more revenue.”
Work & Co was additionally named a finalist in the websites category for the redesign of Aesop.com, which earned “High Commendation” from the judges.
