$1 Million Fund to Support Black Nonprofits and Startups
July 21, 2020
Work & Co is establishing a $1 Million fund to support startups and organizations focused on advancement in the Black community.
“Like every business, Work & Co has a responsibility to break down the structures that enable systemic racism— through hiring, donations, and demanding more from the government,” said Gene Liebel, founding partner. “But as a technology company, we can have more leverage than that. We can use our ability to build digital products to help reset the equation and enable racial justice. Our focus is going beyond messaging to launch tools that lead to real change and accountability.”
The Work & Co Fund will provide strategy, design and development services in the following areas, narrowed with the help of employees:
- Black economic empowerment
- Black voting rights and access
- Criminal justice reform
If your organization is dedicated to one of the three above areas you may be eligible for pro-bono digital help. Please complete this form in order to determine if your needs are a fit for the fund: https://work.co/fund.
The $1 Million Work & Co Fund is part of a series of actions we outlined in June to commit to action in the fight for racial justice and hold ourselves accountable long-term.
Work & Co has previously carved out funds outside of client work to support digital products and services aimed at helping to improve society. Those projects include defining, designing and building Roo, an award-winning AI tool for Planned Parenthood.
