Gatorade Gx Wins CES Innovation Award
November 19, 2021
The Gatorade Gx App, designed and developed by Work & Co, has won a 2022 honor in the highly competitive CES Innovation Awards. The product was honored in the Software & Mobile Apps category of the awards show, which this year received a record-high number of over 1800 submissions.
Produced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)®, the CES Innovation Awards are an annual competition honoring outstanding design and engineering in consumer technology products. Judges include consumer technology industry designers, engineers, and members of the media, who rate products in 27 different categories, with the top-scoring products becoming honorees that are featured at CES 2022, the world’s most influential technology event, happening Jan. 5-8 in Las Vegas, NV and digitally.
"We were able to achieve a lot of firsts together with our partners at Gatorade and Epicore Biosystems," said Work & Co Group Technology Director Rodrigo Senra. "We overcame a series of design and engineering challenges with the new Gx app, including: individualized recommendations for hydration, nutrition, and recovery based on workouts consolidated from multiple tracker sources; extrapolating localized sweat capture to whole-body sweat; and optimized product and food suggestions for individual personal needs and reporting a new holistic metric (the Gx Score) that combines training load, recovery status, and compliance. The best part is we then encapsulated it all into a single aesthetic and easy-to-use Mobile App."
Said Rob McCutcheon, Director, Digital Innovation and Growth Marketing at Gatorade: “While we're known globally for our sports drinks, it's the research and athlete insights behind the portfolio innovation that is truly at the heart of the Gatorade brand. We’re highly focused on investing in best-in-class design and engineering to build new tools that help democratize our sports science expertise for all athletes. We couldn't be prouder to see the merits of that focus today, having a world-class group of judges honor our Gx App, which brings a service once reserved for the pros, to the pocket of any athlete looking to optimize their sports nutrition and hydration. We’re looking forward to releasing more digital products, along with partners like Work & Co, as part of our commitment to serve our community.”
