Inside Work & Co’s New Brazil Offices
December 14, 2022
Work & Co is stepping up its presence in South America’s largest country with two new office spaces in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
“Since the company’s founding nearly ten years ago, Brazil has been central — boasting a strong talent pool across our design, engineering, product management, strategy, writing, and quality assurance teams,” said Isabela Tosta, Managing Director at Work & Co. “In a hybrid environment, we’ve continued to allow for the flexibility of remote work while investing in physical spaces. Our new studios are inviting spaces where our team enjoys coming together for key moments, building products as a team, and shaping the future of design and technology.”
For its São Paulo office, Work & Co enlisted renowned architecture firm Guto Requena Studio. The studio’s been behind iconic structures such as “Dancing Pavillion” in Rio de Janeiro at Olympic Park, an interactive sculpture at Terminal 7 in Paris, and the “Light Creature” in São Paulo.
Situated in the creative and artistic neighborhood of Vila Madalena, Work & Co’s new office space has three integrated floors featuring floor-to-ceiling glass, offering an unobstructed view of the surroundings. Wood, terracotta panels, and vast vegetation throughout the space inject Brazilian design, harmoniously connecting a contemporary aesthetic to the characteristics of the historic neighborhood.
Said Guto Requena, the studio’s founder: “When approaching Work & Co’s new office space, we sought to translate the innovation of the company into architectural values. The design prioritizes a rational and minimalist design. The new office allows for flexibility with an environment that easily reconfigures for team meetings, events, and everyday office life.”
Work & Co also recently opened a new office in the Ipanema neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro. Located in the same building as Brazil’s oldest and longest-running art gallery, the space allows our team to enjoy a view of the ocean and mirrors the ethos of all our offices while incorporating a uniquely Brazilian style.
Since opening in 2013, Work & Co has partnered with Brazilian clients, including Vivo, Itau, AB InBev, Havaianas, Globo, and more. Recent launches in Brazil have included a new digital data hub for public health non-profit Impulso. Work & Co’s global presence counts 550 team members around the world; in addition to its Brazil hubs it has teams in Brooklyn, Portland, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Copenhagen, and Belgrade.
